The Good Samaritan (and why it is important today)
A Jewish man was traveling to Jericho when he was suddenly mugged and beaten till he was nearly dead. There we several people who walked along right past the man not bothering to make it their business to see if he was ok. Those of which included a Jewish priest and a Levite. It wasn't until a Samarian man walked by and "had compassion on him" and decided to help. The Samaritan bound the man's wounds, clothed him, and proceeded to pay for the man to stay at a nearby inn for the night.
It is important to note that the Jews and Samaritans were enemies and would not dare to even think about helping each other out. Christ taught shared this story to open our eyes to the fact that it does not matter who our earthly alliances are to, we must serve and care for everyone because we are all sons and daughters of Heavenly Parents. It is getting exhausting seeing how divided the nation has become. And it has even started to affect how I view others. This story is a good example of how we need to put aside our differences and love each other.
